Scholarship

Each applicant must meet the following requirements:

  1. Applicant must have competed in at least one of the following events at any of the previous Medina County Fairs: prospect steer, heifer, goat and lamb show, home arts division, or fair queen’s contest.
  2. The chairman of each of the divisions mentioned in item 1 will verify eligibility of all applicants after applications are received.
  3. Applicant must complete an application form with the required information provided together in a folder.
    1. Information sheet.
    2. Official transcript of his/her high school record.
    3. 3 recommendation forms submitted in sealed envelopes.
      Recommendations may be obtained from teachers, principal, counselor, an employer, clergy member, or other non-family member.
    4. A 2 to 3 page, double-spaced, typed theme titled, PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON
  4. Applicant must be a candidate for graduation in the Spring of 2011 and begin vocational school, trade school, college, or university the following Fall 2010 semester.
  5. Applicant must be a resident of Medina County or attend school in Medina County and be a member of the Medina County Fair Association by September 17, 2010.
  6. Applicant must have the application packet in to the Medina County Fair office (P.O. Box 4, Hondo, Texas 78861) no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010.
  7. The scholarship will be funded by the net proceeds of a Baked Food Show Auction and Bake Sale, which will be held during the Fair. Based on net proceeds, the scholarship committee may award 3 to 5 scholarships to the top placing applicants.
  8. Winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Appreciation Dinner. All applicants are requested to be present and will be recognized.
  9. Should the scholarship winner fail to enroll in post secondary education in the Fall semester following graduation in May of 2011, the scholarship will be forfeited and awarded to the runner-up.
  10. Scholarships will be judged by a committee composed of Medina County Fair Directors.
